Snap’s Augmented Reality team invents the immersive (and fun!) camera experiences that are at the core of our products. From developing creative new Lens features for Snapchat, to supporting the continuous growth and evolution of Lens Studio (our platform for an ever-increasing community of AR creators), to designing the cutting-edge computer vision and machine learning technology that makes face transformation Lenses possible — our Augmented Reality team is working hard on their mission to bring AR to more people, places, and moments, every day.

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead Snap’s Lens Studio team!

What you’ll do:

  • Combine your deep technical background, leadership experience and passion for building developer communities to extend Snap’s leadership position in the rapidly evolving AR space

  • Drive the technical roadmap for the engineering team working on our industry-leading AR authoring tool, Lens Studio

  • Leverage your extensive experience with C++, game/AR engine architectures to help the team design and deliver performant, low-maintenance code

  • Get to know Lens developers and use that knowledge to help shape our product roadmap

  • Collaborate with stakeholders on our Spectacles team to deliver the best developer tools on the planet for building spatial applications on see-through displays

  • Build and grow a team of exceptional software engineers and technical leaders

  • Create growth opportunities, give regular feedback, promote talent, manage performance

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of game engine design patterns

  • Strong computer science fundamentals

  • Expertise in modern C++

  • Solid understanding of generative ML workflows, like ComfyUI, and other ML technologies which are democratizing complex creation processes in this and similar fields

  • Strong product sense

  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of a company

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to influence and convey messages to a wide range of stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in a technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of experience

  • 11+ years of experience working in software engineering

  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing teams of high performing software engineers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments

  • Experience making critical decisions for complex technical issues in real-time, considering timelines and urgency

  • Experience working with a diverse group of engineers

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $222,000-$333,000 annually.


 

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $211,000-$316,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $189,000-$283,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
