What we are looking for?

Workplace Experience (WX) is responsible for the design, build, and operations of all Snap workspace globally. The team includes Portfolio Management, Design & Construction Management, Data, Technology & Planning, Workplace Operations, Food and Onsite Events. We’re looking for a Sr Manager, Snap Lab Workplace Services to join the Workplace Experience (WX) team at Snap, Inc! Based in Abingdon, UK  this role will be the single point of contact globally for Snap Labs, where you will lead a team responsible for the design and construction and onsite building operations of dedicated Snap Lab facilities and cleanrooms as well as all on-site engineering and infrastructure. 

This role will lead and champion all building engineering and operational programs pertaining to the Snap Lab technical spaces consisting of cleanroom, hardware labs and other R&D specific spaces.  This role will lead the design and build of the cleanrooms and hardware labs and oversee construction and operations of these technical spaces.  With two direct reports (Mechanical Engineers) on-site in Abinddon, UK and Chandler, AZ, the role will also oversee the onsite operations including tool installation, preventative maintenance programs, managing operating and capital budgets, training and development of technical staff and all relevant external partners. This role will partner closely with our third-party facilities/workplace team, Snap People, Security, ITDE and EHS teams, as well as key business leaders within the Snap Lab global team. 

What you’ll do: 

  • Act as a single point of contact and business partner to Snap Lab, ensuring the Workplace Experience team is meeting their technical facilities needs and we provide leadership with monthly business reviews (MBRs). 

  • Ensure all sites within the prescribed portfolio are managed and maintained to a high standard and in compliance with local regional and global policies and guidelines.

  • Provide technical leadership and management of the Snap Lab building engineering teams in Abingdon, UK and Chandler, AZ to ensure operational and compliance standards are met and exceeded.

  • Oversee the successful delivery of new projects such as cleanrooms, hardware labs, tool installations in the Snap Lab technical facilities including the following: 

    • Develop detailed project plans outlining scope, timeline, budget and ensuring all end user needs are factored into the project design.

    • Develop project brief outlining scope and specific deliverables and requirements from Snap Labs teams such as tools and required building infrastructure. Select and manage appropriate vendor teams for all design and construction needs.  

    • Develop and oversee budgets for construction projects.

    • Ensure quality control on construction projects and that work complies with relevant regulations and code requirements. 

    • Serve as point of contact with clients (Snap Lab end users) to provide project updates and address concerns during design and construction projects.

  • Manage outsourced engineering and facility vendor partners to ensure workplace services, and programs are consistently delivered at a high standard and building equipment is maintained to manufacturers and Snap Lab requirements.

  • Develop and manage Post Occupancy Project (POP) Program for Snap Lab technical facilities / cleanrooms to smoothly deliver business critical small scale projects on-site such as new tool installations.

  • Collaborate with EHS, lab partners, and vendors, on conducting risk assessments for equipment, materials and other product innovation, design and development projects as well as hazardous waste management and asset tracking software.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across all lines of the business.

  • Manage and assist with the development of annual operating and capital budgets, financial variance tracking, and operations expenses management.

  • Conduct regular, formal site condition inspections and work closely with responsible parties to ensure any deficiencies identified are resolved. 

  • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with cross-functional team members, landlord or building management, vendors, contractors, and consultants.Remove roadblocks and celebrate wins. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in business practices and procedures as related to design, construction, facilities operations, engineering and service management in cleanroom and hardware lab environments.

  • Project management skills and experience delivering large scale projects with highly technical components like in an R&D lab, cleanroom, foundry or production facility.  

  • Experience building a team, both internal team members and outsourced partners, that can deliver services and successful projects. 

  • Self-motivated team player with high energy and great interpersonal skills; possessing outstanding communication skills with ability to build relationships and influence at different levels of the organization.

  • Ability to strategize, implement, and evolve operating plans and programs for cleanrooms and hardware labs.

  • Ability to oversee multiple projects, teams and ensure function / program goals are reached

  • Financial and business acumen in high-value and/or multi-discipline service contracts, and proven project management experience.

  • Extremely detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to use a work order system. Working knowledge and understanding of architectural, electrical and mechanical systems. Understanding of leases, contracts and related documents. 

  • Process driven individual with a proven track record of identifying gaps and implementing new processes.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field and a minimum of four years experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Membership in IWFM or similar is desirable. 

  • Knowledge and understanding of all applicable practices and techniques, laws, project controls and environmental regulations to include safety regulations.

  • 10 years experience in construction management, property management, facilities operations or other related fields with focus on cleanroom environments.

  • 5 years experience managing high performance teams across multiple locations

  • Certification / Qualifications in two or more of the following is desired: Facilities Management (E.g. IWFM Level 5+), Construction Management, NEBOSH, IOSH, Project Management (Prince2, etc.)  

  • Experience operating with a cleanroom environment. Specifically managing the preventative and reactive maintenance of equipment that services Clean environments.
