We’re looking for an experienced, multifaceted litigator with deep civil and government experience to join our Litigation and Regulatory Team as the lead for government litigation. This position reports to our Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Litigation & Regulatory. This is an in-office role under our “Default Together” policy and may be located in Washington, DC; Santa Monica, California; San Francisco, California; or New York, New York.  

What you’ll do:

  • Join and contribute to a talented and collaborative team of litigators as well as cross-functional partners

  • Lead a distinct function and squad within the Litigation and Regulatory Team

  • Be an active and strategic leader for a diverse portfolio of matters across multiple jurisdictions within Snap’s litigation docket, with specific focus on government and regulatory litigation matters

  • Truly own matters from start to finish, including by being a collaborative “connector” within Snap and beyond

  • Act as an active and engaged partner with outside counsel to devise strategy and pursue action designed to deliver successful outcomes

  • Provide wise counsel to business and cross-functional teams, help identify and manage risk and deliver solutions to problems

  • Oversee all aspects of outside counsel relationships, including counsel engagement, spend management, staffing, and identification and execution of strategy

  • Work cross-functionally with relevant internal departments, including Product, Policy and Safety teams

  • Day-to-day activities involve managing all aspects of cutting-edge matters in the litigation portfolio; interacting with government officials and regulators; making key strategic decisions; analyzing and providing legal advice and recommendations to executives and decisionmakers; and advising the company on a wide range of complex legal and business risk management issues 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly skilled in all aspects of litigation (e.g., brief-writing, legal strategy, discovery, deposition and trial preparation, expert witnesses); trial experience highly preferred

  • Demonstrated record of successfully leading complex legal matters and engagement with federal and state government and regulatory officials

  • Dedicated manager of people and team who is able to both offer opportunity to and get the most from great talent

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to collaborate well with colleagues

  • Strong organizational and case management skills

  • Sound judgment on legal and business issues

  • Collaborative team player who can connect well with a broad range of people and knows how to provide solution-minded legal advice, cognizant of business objectives

Minimum qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials

  • Active membership in at least one state bar in good standing

  • 10+ years of legal experience in complex and government litigation matters

Preferred qualifications:

  • Complex litigation experience in private practice

  • Federal and/or state government litigation experience

  • In-house experience is highly preferred

  • Trial experience is highly preferred

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $294,000-$441,000 annually.


 

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $279,000-$419,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $250,000-$375,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
