The Legal & Policy Team is Snap’s dedicated in-house law firm, policy consultant, lobbyist, thought partner, and all-around advisor. We’re looking for a highly experienced and motivated Global Head of Product Legal to join our Legal Team! The successful candidate will play a crucial role in guiding and helping to shape the legal aspects of our product development, including advising on compliance with global regulations, and mitigating legal risks. This role requires a deep understanding of technology, exceptional legal acumen, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams. This role is a key partner to our global Product organization, including those who work on and with content and engagement products, user generated content, creators, generative AI, augmented reality, trust & safety, monetization, hardware, and growth. What you’ll do:
Lead and help develop our Product Legal team.
Partner with the Engineering, Product, and Design teams to understand and assess new products and technologies, from early development stages through launch – and provide proactive legal advice throughout the product lifecycle.
Drive and evolve the legal-compliance-by-design process, including privacy-by-design and safety-by-design.
Identify, analyze, and advise on evolving legal and safety risks and global regulatory requirements for new and existing products and technologies.
Work closely with legal colleagues to ensure regulatory compliance.
Help scale the legal organization by developing innovative processes to support the fast-moving Engineering, Product, and Design teams.
Help draft public-facing descriptions of new products and technologies.
Stay abreast of emerging legal trends and best practices in the tech industry, and provide thought leadership within the legal team and the company.
Be a collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
Be willing and able to roll up your sleeves and jump right in to support the team.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Experience across a range of legal disciplines – e.g., privacy, consumer protection, marketing, advertising and IP.
Very strong understanding of the GDPR and other global privacy laws.
Experience working directly with engineers, product managers, and senior executives on product development.
Someone who’s excited about and comfortable with mastering new areas of law and tech.
Excellent legal and business judgment and strategic thinking.
Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the company on complex, multifaceted issues.
Detail-oriented, business-friendly, and a team player, with an ability to think creatively and accommodate tight deadlines.
Strong work ethic and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Excellent academic credentials.
Minimum qualifications:
JD degree from an accredited university
Active membership in at least one state bar
15+ years of experience practicing law
10+ years experience in product law
Experience leading in-house product legal teams
Preferred qualifications:
In-house counsel experience with a multinational corporation, preferably in the technology sector

Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
The base salary range for this position is $294,000-$441,000 annually.
This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
