Snap Inc is a technology company. We believe the camera presents the greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Snap contributes to human progress by empowering people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together. The Company’s three core products are Snapchat, a visual messaging app that enhances your relationships with friends, family, and the world; Lens Studio, an augmented reality platform that powers AR across Snapchat and other services; and its AR glasses, Spectacles.
Spectacles are Snap's hand-free camera that take in both photo and video content that is shareable on, and off, Snapchat. With hardware and augmented reality working in tandem, Spectacles make it easy to make memories from your perspective, and relive them later.
Spectacles is home to Spectacles — a camera inspired by the human eye, powered by your imagination — and a world-class research & development team that is paving the way for the future of the camera. Spectacles Snap Lab builds creative technology that helps overlay computing on the world around us.
We're looking for a Failure Analysis, Reliability, Process Development and Metrology Engineer to join the Spectacles NPI team!
What you’ll do:
Work with engineering (EE, ME and NPI), board designers, and contract manufacturers to plan and execute reliability testing to assess product durability and corrective action effectiveness, manage logistics to return device samples to PD and EE engineering, track failure analysis completion and results, monitor implementation and validation of corrective actions, assess and update risk of recurrence of failure modes in future builds, and maintain product reliability repository for all data, analysis, and assessment deliverables
Collaborate with engineering and EMS to develop new tests where necessary, including fixtures, FW and data acquisition required for their execution
Determine, develop, demonstrate and systematize methods of assessment for components, subassemblies and process required to ensure each meet quality and reliability requirements in final product
Provide subject matter expertise on reliability test methodology, measurement of device integrity, test to failure approaches to understand design margin, statistical analysis and visualization of data.
Implement data collection, storage and data reduction for the purposes of providing real time accessible data and communication of ongoing testing activities
Support new technology developments: materials, processes, components and subassemblies using a systematic approach for risk prioritization and reliability growth
Support prototype builds with contract manufacturers throughout Asia and technology and strategy development with US and Asia teams (estimated travel within Asia 10%, US 5%)
Identify high risk failure modes early in the design life cycle and collaborate with other teams to evaluate and reduce risk.
Drive continuous improvement in FA capability and methods, reliability test, product reliability test outcomes and field Reliability for new products
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated history working with EMS to prepare then execute reliability test plans and with engineering teams to communicate results, then analyze, correct and validate solutions to reliability test failures.
Demonstrated history completing and documenting problem solving activity, including test data, failure analysis, and suggestions for corrective action and follow up validation testing
Experience at minimum personally interpreting results of SEM/EDX, FTIR/DSC/TGA, CT X-ray, optical microscopy, OMM/CMM, Instron, potting/polishing cross-sections, and red-dye, with preference for individuals having personally practiced the above analytical methods
