We're looking for a Vision Scientist to join the Spectacles team!

What you’ll do:

  • Design and administer scalable human visual system (HVS) psychophysical experiments.

  • Assess and interpret statistical data from experiments, drawing actionable conclusions to develop relevant display quality metrics, inform product human factors, and create innovative IP opportunities. 

  • Communicate key results and insights to cross-functional product teams.  Use your expertise to advocate for the right product choices among stakeholders.

  • Proactively identify areas of further research, and create programs to investigate those areas with a clear purpose of improving AR products.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • An enthusiastic, action-oriented attitude toward visual science and innovative product development.

  • Knowledge of stereoscopic vision and depth perception, knowledge of binocular metrics.

  • Knowledge of behavioral statistics. Experience with data analysis and statistical programs.

  • Experience running end-to-end behavioral research studies. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • PhD in vision science or related field (psychology, neuroscience, etc.) 

  • 2+ years of research experience within PhD program.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with augmented or virtual reality displays, knowledge of image quality metrics, and knowledge of the image processing pipeline are all highly desirable

  • Experience with eye tracking systems and/or pupillometry to infer user intent & cognitive state is preferred. 

  • Experience with graphical techniques such as foveation is also preferred.

  • Experience with image processing software, such as Matlab or Python, is a requirement.

  • Project management experience is a must for internal and external collaborations and studies

  • Experience with generating intellectual property is desirable.

  • Experience with interactive content and graphical tools, such as Unity, is desirable.  Experience with Psychtoolbox is a plus.

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $157,000-$235,000 annually.


 

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $149,000-$223,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $133,000-$200,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
