We're looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Electrical Engineer to join the Snap Lab team and work on our next-generation Augmented Reality Spectacles.
What you’ll do:
Partner with Engineering, Technical Operations, and contract manufacturers to ensure product meets factory yield targets.
Coordinate defect resolution with engineering technical operations, and contract manufacturers.
Develop and maintain documentation on failure analysis procedures, repair procedures, best practices, and lessons learned.
Perform detailed failure analysis on manufacturing failures, including PCB board-level, device level, and FW debugging to identify the root cause and resolution.
Provide yield reports, defect pareto data, action plans, and escalations for functional performance quality.
Mentor, train, and lead contract manufacturers on failure analysis, root-cause analysis, and defect resolution.
Define or develop tools and fixtures that are required for Spectacles and board-level failure analysis
Collaborate with Factory Test and Reliability teams to validate Factory Test effectiveness through circuit analysis or inducing defects and validating test processes.
Provide guidance on or Design-for-Repairability, Design-for-Manufacturability.
Provide status reports and present data on yields, defects, and resolutions to senior leadership team.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong understanding of electronic and components and PCB design, and manufacturing process
Proficient with reading schematic designs, familiarity with schematic capture, gerber files, etc.
Knowledge and failure analysis experience in acoustics, cameras, displays, RF (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc)
Familiar with use of failure analysis equipment e.g. microscope, oscilloscope, multimeter, OMM, etc
Experience with consumer electronics tear down and assembly process. Experience in root cause analysis due to non-conforming materials or assembly process related functional failures such as B2B connection, ZIF connection, flex crack, part damage, electrical shorts, poor assembly
Experience in analysis methods e.g. X-ray, CT Scan, SEM, FTIR, cross-section etc
Familiar with PCB/SMT failure modes such as solder shorts, BGA head-in-pillow soldering failures, etc
Familiar with Six Sigma or statistical methodologies
Experience scripting spreadsheets, Big Query or SQL, Looker Studio reports, or other programming or data processing tools
Proficient in written and verbal communication in both Mandarin and English
Minimum Qualifications:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
7+ years in electronics manufacturing or related field for IPC 610 Class II products (dedicated consumer electronics)
Ability to work on-site at Taipei manufacturing site 35%+ (during active bills must be on-site, commutable distance from Quanta)
Ability to travel to US, China, Thailand 10%+ of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters in engineering, FW or related field
10+ years in electronics manufacturing or related field
Six Sigma green belt or black belt certification
