We’re looking for a Privacy Engineering Manager to join the Privacy Engineering organization at Snap!
What you’ll do:
Lead a team building the platforms, policy systems, automation, and validation loops that make privacy scalable across product and infrastructure development.
Scale privacy by design through AI-assisted review, reusable policy artifacts, and automation.
Utilize AI tools and high velocity engineering workflows to design and ship scalable services while upholding rigorous standards for code correctness, security, and production ready quality code.
Build machine-readable privacy policy, governance, and enforcement mechanisms for engineers and platforms.
Partner across product, infrastructure, security, legal, compliance, and data to deliver practical privacy solutions.
Lead platforms and workflows that improve governance, validation, retention, deletion, and sensitive data handling.
Guide decisions on data use, access, sharing, retention, and AI/ML systems across privacy, product, and business tradeoffs.
Build validation loops for privacy commitments in production, including code scanning and system-level analysis.
Enable product innovation within strong privacy boundaries, including ads privacy, opt-out enforcement, and privacy-preserving AI agents.
Coach engineers, raise the quality bar, and build a strong culture of technical excellence and partnership.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong technical leadership and systems thinking, with the ability to set strategy, drive execution, and influence across teams.
Experience building or scaling platforms, workflows, or control planes in privacy, security, infrastructure, or related domains.
Solid privacy engineering fluency, including data minimization, access boundaries, retention and deletion, and privacy validation.
Proficiency in, or a strong aptitude for, leveraging AI tools to streamline development, paired with the critical judgment to audit generated output for architectural integrity, performance bottlenecks, and security risks.
Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools to remain at the forefront of engineering trends and modern development practices.
Experience translating legal, policy, or governance requirements into technical requirements and durable system behavior.
Strong judgment in reviewing complex systems and making tradeoffs across privacy, product velocity, reliability, and business impact.
Familiarity with areas such as data governance, identity and access management, cloud infrastructure, ML/AI systems, or security automation.
Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineers and building strong cross-functional partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent years of experience in a related technical field
8+ years of post- bachelor’s security / privacy experience; or a Master’s degree in a technical field + 7+ years of post-grad security experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 4 years of post-grad security experience
1 + year(s) of technical leadership or engineering management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading privacy platform, or privacy governance work in a consumer or large-scale technology environment.
Experience building policy systems, automation, or validation frameworks that reduce manual review and improve consistency.
Experience with AI-assisted workflows, policy codification, or automated decision-support systems in privacy, security, or trust and safety
Experience partnering with legal, compliance, audit, or risk teams to operationalize requirements through engineering controls.
Familiarity with privacy challenges in ads, ML systems, or agentic AI product surfaces.
Experience improving engineering processes and increasing team leverage through reusable mechanisms rather than manual review alone.

Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
The base salary range for this position is $251,000-$377,000 annually.
