We are looking for a Security Engineer to join either our Enterprise Infrastructure Security (EIS) team or our Detection and Response (D&R) team. In this role, you will work from one of our US West Coast offices to harden our systems, protect our global community, and ensure Snap stays safe as we innovate. Whether you are designing preventative controls or hunting for active threats, you will collaborate across disciplines to secure our corporate devices, applications, and cloud infrastructure.
What you’ll do:
Design, implement, and operate security controls that protect our corporate devices, applications, and infrastructure, including execution control, device trust, and network segmentation.
Build and understand threat models which pose an imminent threat to our platform and business.
Design, pilot, and implement logging and alerting systems to detect malicious activity on Snap Inc.'s endpoints, infrastructure, networks, and cloud environments (AWS/GCP).
Investigate events generated by the alerting pipeline, triage potential incidents, and drive response efforts.
Build tools and devise automation strategies in Python and/or Go to improve Snap Inc.’s ability to hunt threats and respond to intrusions.
Conduct security reviews for new features and technologies, including the secure enablement of AI tools and features.
Partner with IT and other engineering teams to architect and manage identity and access management (IAM) and SSO integrations.
Identify, analyze, fingerprint, and build threat intelligence on trends and developments in adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of operating system internals, with core competency in two or more of the following: macOS, Windows, Linux, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform.
Proven experience in one or more security areas: digital forensics, malware analysis, incident management, host/network intrusion detection, threat intelligence, or endpoint security.
Strong development skills in Python and/or Go.
Ability to conduct design reviews and provide actionable mitigation guidance to reduce risk.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail and a record of collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent years of experience in a related technical field
1+ years of experience in the field of corporate or enterprise security, or other similar security engineering role
Preferred Qualifications:
Background evaluating and securely enabling emerging technologies, including AI tools and features, with a focus on upholding access control boundaries and data protection requirements
Familiarity with securing lab, IoT, and ancillary systems, including applying hardening standards, monitoring, and access controls across heterogeneous environments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail
Work record of collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of a company

Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
The base salary range for this position is $118,000-$176,000 annually.
