We're looking for a Metrology Engineer to join the Spectacles team!
What you’ll do:
Develop, implement and optimise metrology techniques for advanced nanostructures
Own, maintain and operate key metrology tools, including FIB-SEM and AFM to achieve accurate, repeatable and reliable measurements
Collaborate with internal and external teams to find the root cause of issues and identify solutions
Develop new metrology and characterisation approaches to improve correlation between design and fabrication
Develop automated methods for measurement and analysis
Identify opportunities to improve the capabilities of the current tools and processes, implement the necessary changes and guide new tool purchases
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
In-depth and extensive knowledge of metrology processes and tools
Ability to learn and adapt to new challenges
Excellent verbal and written communication, and reasoning skills
Ability to prioritise duties and work autonomously
Minimum Experience:
PhD in material science, electronics engineering, physics, nanotechnology or a related discipline with relevant postdoc or industry experience
Extensive hands-on experience with Focussed-Ion Beam imaging and sample manipulation (FIB), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) in a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)
Excellent attention to detail and strong organisation skills
Strong background in data analysis and visualisation (Matlab, Python, JMP, etc.)
A working knowledge of the nanofabrication processes and tools
Preferred Experience:
Relevant postdoc or industry experience
A basic understanding of the fundamentals and operating principles of optical and photonic devices
Experience using scripting tools such as Python to remote control measurement tools
Experience with a range of material characterisation tools and techniques such as EDX, XRD, FTIR, TGA, and GC/MS
We offer a competitive salary range £93,000 - £116,000 which is commensurate with your qualifications and experience and the level of this role. This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs. Our compensation philosophy is designed to attract and retain top talent in the industry.
