We’re looking for a Senior Commercial Counsel to join Snap! As a member of the Legal team based in our Los Angeles office, you’ll play a key role in Snap’s commercial transactions and advise teams throughout the company on legal issues spanning the breadth of Snap’s products and services. This role is for a builder who is as comfortable negotiating a complex manufacturing master agreement as they are troubleshooting a quick vendor order or renewal. You are a pragmatic problem-solver who believes no task is too small if it helps the team cross the finish line.
What You’ll Do:
Draft, negotiate, review, and interpret agreements powering Snap’s commercial activities around the world, with a focus on Snap’s hardware and platform products. These include hardware purchase and sale terms; supply chain, manufacturing, and logistics agreements; R&D and technology development; IT and outsourcing agreements; and platform terms (B2B and B2C).
Analyze and advise on complex issues related to hardware manufacture and distribution, data privacy, intellectual property, technology development, data licensing, R&D, software and hardware integrations, e-commerce, and partnerships.
Advise business clients on company policies, business strategy, commercial transactions, and legal issues and risks.
Assist in creating and improving agreements, templates, and policies.
Partner closely with cross-functional teams to provide integrated legal support that keeps the business moving forward.
Handle a wide range of commercial matters at the discretion of the leads of the Snap legal commercial team, and jump in wherever the team needs extra hands, regardless of the task’s complexity.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
In-depth knowledge of the hardware, manufacturing, and supply chain ecosystem in an international setting.
A “team-first” mentality with a “low ego, high-output” mindset - you find satisfaction in doing the work that needs to get done to move our business forward.
Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, negotiation, and drafting skills.
Excellent legal and business judgment, critical thinking, and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
Ability to drive collaboration and a passion for mentoring others and sharing knowledge and expertise.
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
A scrappy approach to problem-solving and the ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly.
Minimum Qualifications:
J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
Active membership in a United States state bar, or otherwise qualified to be a registered in-house counsel under California’s multi-jurisdictional practice program.
8+ years of practicing law in-house or at a law firm, with experience in supporting hardware products.
Strong knowledge and understanding of technology deals, including for the purchase and provision of hardware and manufacturing services in an international setting.
If you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please don’t be shy and provide us some information.
